Transient heat and humidity simulation (WUFI / Delphin)

Transient one-dimensional heat and humidity simulation (hygrothermal simulation calculation) with WUFI Pro and transient two-dimensional heat and humidity simulation with WuFI 2D:

Hydrothermal simulation according to DIN EN 15026:2007-0 resp. WTA data sheet 6-2:014-12 is preferable to the stationary period accounting procedure (blowing process) because it enables a realistic illustration of the behaviour of components in the course of a year. The calculation is based on the latest findings on vapor diffusion and liquid transport.

In addition to heat transport through transmission and moisture transport through diffusion the hydrothermal simulation takes account of the capillary moisture transport in the component, the sorptive absorption capacity for precipitating moisture as well as rain and solar radiation based on locacation-dependent climate data (hygrothermal reference years HRY).

With the simulation calculation the technical proof of moisture can often be verifiably provided for not varifiable constructions according to DIN 4108-3:2018-10 resp. DIN 68800-2:2012-02 for components that cannot be verified by the blowing process.

The flow of the calculations of instationary warmth an moisture behaviour of components in buildings is described below:

  • Clarification of the individual tasks in coordination with the client, if necessary by site inspection
  • Construction of the component / Simulation Models 1D or 2D
  • Definition of the necessary boundary conditions
  • Implementation of simulation, possibly with integrated assessment (e. g. shaded – not shaded, vapor barrier – moisture adaptive vapor barrier)
  • Evaluation of the results including graphic representation
  • Evaluation of the construction with regard to all relevant criteria (e. g. moisture increase in construction, risk of fungus and mold, evaluation of internal insulation)
  • Preparing a report including representation of the simulation model, the defined boundary conditions as well as the calculation results and final evaluation
